The Full Story

How we chose our name, Alexa Marie. Alexa is our beautiful niece who changed our lives forever. Alexa was diagnosed at 5 months old with neuroblastoma and fought for her life at such a young, innocent age. She was called back home at 13 months old in December of 2011. Alexa was such a blessing to us and so sweet, she taught us all more in her short time with us than we could ever learn in all our years. She taught me strength, dedication and focus and to drop love crumbs along our paths. To honor her, my dream of owning a business and doing something I am passionate about, baking sweets, it seemed very suitable to name it Alexa Marie’s. 


Why we are Gluten Free: In 2016, I started getting really bad joint pain, my thumbs would lock up making it impossible for them to move and pop back out. I went to a naturopathic to discover what was going on and after some tests we found it to be Rheumatoid Arthritis an autoimmune disease. From there the culprits causing inflammation in my body was Wheat, Soy and Pineapple. We are 100% gluten free, all ingredients used are certified gluten free, safe for celiac. Although we are always striving to be soy free and do not use soy in our products, we do not claim that, as soy is hidden in so many variations of words.

 
Our idea of starting up our bakery was sparked as it is difficult to not only find gluten free treats, but to find good gluten free treats. It brings us great joy to spread our love of what we offer to all those who miss their favorite treats due to their medical conditions. As a community based business the idea of being able to help others enjoy tasty gluten free treats enlightens our hearts as we humbly get to share our most prized creations. When it comes to Gluten Free Baking, one All-Purpose Flour doesn’t quite suit all. Each recipe requires its own unique texture, moisture and density so we blend each flour mix by hand, creating that custom, one of a kind treat! We are very passionate about the quality of the products we produce and sharing them with others on this journey as well as those not on a gluten free journey. We create gluten free treats for all to eat!

With such a vast majority of gluten allergy, it is important to us to help those who have difficulty finding a treat they thought they'd have to give up for life. At Alexa Marie’s you can have your cake and eat it too!
